Duties Description

Employee will demonstrate competency in performing clerical and computer duties on specific units. Checks and maintains inventory of supplies for daily unit operations. Requests repair services for equipment as needed. Collaborates daily with the Nurse Manager to set priorities for the operation of the unit. Prepares purchase orders for unit equipment/supplies as needed and process through proper channels. Prepares, compiles, and maintains an admission chart and places transfer information in the scan bins on the hospital nursing units for medical records department. Carries out money transactions for patients (deposits and withdrawals) via the business office. Utilizes Meditech system to maintain official roster of patients and bed assignments. Assists with patient care as needed, to include responding to call bells, transporting patients and delivering collected specimens to the laboratory. Copies pertinent patient information for patient consultation/diagnostic procedures at outside facilities. Contacts outside consultants as needed for patient consultations as ordered. Provides coverage on other units as needed. Other duties as assigned. You must pass competencies for this position.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Non-Competitive: one year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.

Preferred Qualifications: Certified Nurse's Assistant (CNA)

Additional Comments

One permanent, non-competitive, full-time appointment.

Posted salary range ($50,391 - $59,743) includes statutory hiring rate, plus an additional geographic pay differential of $6,000 and downstate adjustment of $4,000.

If applicable inconvenience pay program of $575 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position.
