Position Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity Medical-Surgical unit at a reputable and well-established healthcare institution in New Jersey. This is a registry position ideal for nurses who thrive in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment and value professional collaboration and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Assessment:

  • Perform comprehensive assessments across life spans from pediatric to geriatric.
  • Tailor care plans to developmental and health-specific needs.

2. Clinical Skills:

  • Deliver direct patient care in alignment with unit and patient needs.
  • Exhibit proficiency in the use of emergency equipment and response protocols.

3. Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation reflecting the nursing process.
  • Ensure patient progress, care delivery, and education are thoroughly charted.

4. Professionalism:

  • Adhere to institutional policies and support team development and improvement.
  • Pursue ongoing clinical and professional growth.

5. Patient Satisfaction:

  • Foster a courteous, respectful, and empathetic care environment.
  • Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA.

6. Safety Protocols:

  • Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocols.
  • Use two patient identifiers and safe transfer/body mechanics techniques.

7. Unit-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Care for surgical patients by individualizing plans based on procedures and anaesthesia types.
  • Assess patient understanding and reactions to care processes.

8. Accountability:

  • Prioritize patient care based on individual needs and changing conditions.
  • Support perioperative teamwork with a focus on responsibility and outcomes.

9. Patient Education:

  • Actively involve patients and families in education around surgical procedures.
  • Perform pre- and post-operative assessments and educational interventions.

10. PAT RN Duties (if applicable):

  • Support the timely completion of patient testing.
  • Review Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and completeness.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Active RN license in the state of New Jersey (or eligible for reciprocity)
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Associate’s Degree – Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing – Preferred

Physical Requirements:

Must meet the physical demands defined by Occupational Safety and OMS guidelines for the role, including extended periods of standing and the ability to safely assist with patient transfers.
